Fisher Phrases
"The casting director for that movie First Daughter with Katie Holmes rang my agent and said, "She just wasn't funny." My response was, I didn't know it was a comedy! I read the script and there wasn't a single joke in it. I mean, forgive me for not Houdini-ing some bloody comedy out of thin air!"

Home is…
Wherever my family is.

Where do you live in London?
In Marylebone, but I would love to live permanently at Brown’s Hotel in Mayfair and eat high tea every day.

What was the last play you saw in London?
War Horse at the National Theatre; the puppets were amazing and it was very moving.

What advice would you give a tourist?
Don’t wear a hood.

Which shops do you rely on?
I love Ottolenghi in Islington for breakfast; everything in there is incredible from the salads to the cakes and coffee. My favourite kids’ store is Petit Aimé on Ledbury Road, and for one-stop shopping nothing beats Topshop, if you can brave the loud pop music. Rellik in Ladbroke Grove is amazing for vintage clothing and one-off pieces.

What’s the best meal you’ve ever had in London?
Amaya on Motcomb Street in Knightsbridge is the best place in the world for Indian fusion cooking.

What’s your earliest London memory?
I went to Madame Tussauds with my parents when I was four and I remember being mesmerised by the frozen figures.

What would be on your tombstone?
Best known for her role in Home and Away.’

What would you do if you were Mayor of London for the day?
Behead Boris Johnson.

What was the last album you bought?
One by The Wiggles for my kids.

What makes you laugh?
Sacha Baron Cohen [my husband]. He is the funniest guy in the world and he told me to say that.

What are you up to at the moment?
Promoting my film Burke and Hare, starring Simon Pegg and Andy Serkis, and an animated feature with Johnny Depp called Rango.

Which is your favourite London street for shopping?
Borough Market for produce.

Who’s your hero?
My grandmother; she never complained once in her entire life.

What’s the most romantic place in London?
Primrose Hill where my husband and I first shared a flat.

Which is your favourite London bar?
Anda De Bridge on the Kingsland Road. It’s an unpretentious Caribbean bar that is attitude-free.

What are your favourite London discoveries?
The Natural History Museum. I find it useful to remind myself that I am smaller than a blue whale.

Tell me something I don’t know about London…
Buckingham Palace, The Queen’s official residence, was formerly the site of an infamous brothel – I just Googled that.

Where were the last two places you went on holiday?
My last holiday was to Paris for our two-week honeymoon and before that St Lucia for ten days, which involved unpleasant sunburn and a bout of food poisoning.

Have you ever stolen anything?
A horse magnet and some rabbit stickers from a department store when I was eight years old.

Burke and Hare is in cinemas from 29 October
