And lately her image is plastered across buses and billboards all over the US.
“How am I on a poster?” she wonders when she spots them. And then reminds herself that someone has given her a movie.
“It’s a little unnerving,” she explains.
Sitting in a plush suite inside New York’s Ritz Carlton and wearing impossibly high Jimmy Choo shoes, 32-year-old Fisher looks every bit as young as she did playing troubled teen Shannon Reed on TV soap Home And Away in the late 1990s. ...continue reading

The Confessions of a Shopaholic star talks about life after Wedding Crashers, comedy, nudity, living with Borat, and "dry humping the furniture."
ENTERTAINMENT WEEKLY: Your character in Confessions of a Shopaholic, Rebecca Bloomwood, is a plum role. How did you get cast in the film? ISLA FISHER: I was a huge fan of the books and I was sent the script –- I think it was an early draft -- but I didn't really think about it again. The next thing I know, [Shopaholic producer] Jerry Bruckheimer wanted to meet with me. I was six months pregnant [Fisher and her comedian fiancee, Sacha Baron Cohen, have a young daughter] and had already gained about 50 pounds. I could barely walk. I waddled into the meeting and we spoke a little bit about the character. And I pitched a lot of jokes, which ended up being in the movie. Normally, you pitch ideas and people go, 'Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah,' and your ideas stay in the movie but somebody else gets the job. But Jerry picked me. ...continue reading

Are you a shopaholic? No, not at all. I can safely say I am not a fashionista. I see something in the shop and bring it home and it looks terrible. What’s my weakness? I always buy hair bands and then lose them and later find them all around the house in random places. ...continue reading

How do you make a superficial spendthrift likable? The star of Confessions of a Shopaholic says she focused on keeping it real.
Isla Fisher, who stars in Confessions of a Shopaholic, has a secret of her own: It was all method acting.
"I'm not anti-shopping, but I shop rarely and poorly," says the actress, who's been handed the Herculean task of making a hero out of a woman who can't say "no" to a splurge while in real life the economy is imploding. ...continue reading

It’s about time Isla Fisher got her own movie. After stealing all of her scenes as Vince Vaughn’s adorably psychotic love interest in Wedding Crashers, not to mention earning her dues through a host of supporting roles, the delightfully funny Australian (and fiancé of Sasha Baron “Borat” Cohen) has a vehicle that really showcases her talents. Confessions of a Shopaholic stars Fisher as Rebecca Bloomwood, a consumer-obsessed young woman who stumbles around department stores and fakes her way through financial journalism, fan dancing and speaking Finnish. We chatted with her about the film, her own tastes in fashion, her gift for physical comedy and tapping into her inner idiot. ...continue reading

She's that perky redhead hooked up with "Borat" (Sacha Baron Cohen). The couple have a baby daughter. Pretty Isla Fisher first caught our eye as the kookie, kinda desperate gal who glued herself to Vince Vaughn in the comedy Wedding Crashers. She was the right match for Scarlett Johansson's hubby Ryan Reynolds in the romantic Definitely, Maybe. Now you can identify with Isla (pronounced Eye-la) as a modern woman who is a bit overextended on her credit cards and still trying to hit the sales and hook up with her cute boss in Confessions of a Shopaholic, based on a popular novel. ...continue reading

It wasn't her first role, but Isla Fisher's performance as the, ahem, adventurous woman in Wedding Crashers was certainly her most-noticed.
Until now. Playing the lead for the first time, the Australian Fisher stars as Rebecca Bloomwood in Confessions of a Shopaholic, which opens Friday. Based on the best-selling novel by Sophie Kinsella — Fisher said she read and loved it long before the film came along — it's the story of a woman who hopes to become a finance writer, despite drowning in debt herself due to her inability able to stop shopping. ...continue reading

If you're looking for a luxury-mad label-lover, Isla Fisher's not your girl.
The red-haired Australian actress, clad in a striped sweater and poufy skirt, doesn't even know who designed her outfit, which she got from her stylist. And she gets annoyed when a gorgeous studded bracelet keeps catching on her black tights, nearly ripping them.
"I'm all right," she says. "This is a hazardous bracelet. It looks fabulous, but it's a hazard." ...continue reading
