I was so busy working on our new Gallery, that I almost forgot to add these new photos! Last Sunday, Isla attended the Veuve Clicquot Polo Classic in New York City, looking the picture of summer perfection in a little white flowery dress, with orange wedge heels and her trademark red hair left naturally down. I absolutely love Isla’s look here! She was snapped enjoying the event with her good friend Naomi Watts, and the twosome also posed with fellow Aussie Hugh Jackman, the ultra-classy Julianna Margulies, and director Paul Haggis. It looks like she had a bit of a Marilyn moment on the red carpet too! Over 40 photos have been added to our Gallery, only a handful of which are in HQ at the moment, but all are very pretty ;-)

Joel Edgerton to Play Tom Buchanan in ‘The Great Gatsby’

Australian actor Joel Edgerton has nabbed the role of Tom Buchanan in Baz Luhrmann’s all-star adaptation of The Great Gatsby, being made in 3D by Warner Bros. and Village Roadshow.

THR reported last weekend that Luhrmann was zeroing in on Edgerton and actor Luke Evans, both of whom took part in readings with the director. Edgerton ultimately won the role.

Buchanan is one of the key characters in F. Scott Fitzgerald’s story of love and discontentment among the rich in lavish 1920s Long Island, N.Y.

Leonardo DiCaprio is attached to play the wealthy and mysterious Jay Gatsby, while Tobey Maguire is playing Nick Carraway, who in the novel is the narrator. Carey Mulligan is playing Gatsby’s love, Daisy Buchanan, who is married to Tom Buchanan, a wealthy man having an affair with a mistress (played by Isla Fisher) in the city.

Ben Affleck circled the role earlier this year but ultimately couldn’t make the dates work with Argo, the political thriller that will be his next directorial effort.

That movie is eyeing a September start, while Gatsby is heading for a start in August.

Isla news is slow again (I’m not sure what she’s up to at the moment, professionally – maybe recording for Rise Of The Guardians?), so I’m getting back to work on our new Gallery. To tide you over til that’s ready though, I just came across some scans from Red magazine that Isla was on the cover of a couple of months ago and thought I’d add them to our current gallery. The magazine used her 2009 Allure photoshoot, but it is a new interview!

I’ve just read that Burke & Hare was released in Australian cinemas yesterday (May 13th).

As for other international release dates – France will get the film in cinemas on July 27th, and Germany got the DVD earlier this week, apparently. It’s already available to buy on DVD in the UK. But still no word on a US release date!

Isla made a surprise appearance at fashion’s big night, the Costume Institute Gala, in New York City last night! She looked her usual dazzling self in a blue strapless sequined gown by American designer Tory Burch, with statement purple crystal and diamond earrings by House of Lavande. Isla looks gorgeous!

Inside the event, Isla was seated at the Tory Burch table, and according to reports, her husband Sacha Baron Cohen was with her! They just didn’t walk the red carpet together. Also at the table were Beyonce and her husband Jay-Z, Kristen Bell (who Isla posed with on the red carpet) & Dax Shepard, Kanye West, and guests from CAA and Vogue.

35 photos have been added from the event (sadly none from inside the event – sorry!), most of which are in HQ – enjoy!

Sorry for the lack of updates here recently, I’ve been having some computer problems! I’m hoping everything is sorted now, so updates will resume.

A week or so ago Isla made a typically low-key appearance at the after party for the world premiere of Scream 4 in Hollywood, to support her good friend Courteney Cox. Only 1 photo from the party has surfaced so far, but unfortunately it doesn’t give us that good of a look at Miss Fisher! She seems to be working on her own photography skills! Still, it’s nice to see her out supporting her friend :)

Isla Fisher is in negotiations to join Baz Lurhmann’s 3D adaptation of The Great Gatsby being made by Warner Bros.
Fisher will join Leonardo DiCaprio, Tobey Maguire, Carey Mulligan. Ben Affleck is also in negotiations to join the production, which is eyeing a late summer start.

DiCaprio is pegged to play the wealthy and mysterious Jay Gatsby, while Maguire is playing Nick Carraway, who in the novel is the narrator. Mulligan is playing Gatsby’s love, Daisy Buchanan, who is married to a wealthy chap named Tom Buchanan, whom Affleck would play if his deal makes.

Fisher will play Myrtle, a married woman having an affair with Buchanan. She is later killed by a speeding car, an event that leads to the book’s tragic ending.

Fisher last appeared in Burke and Hare, John Landis’ period horror thriller that also starred Simon Pegg and Andy Serkis. She recently voice a part in Paramount’s animated film Rango and will be heard again in DreamWorks Animation’s Rise of the Guardians.

She is repped by CAA.

Betty Thomas is in talks to direct Desperados, the Universal comedy that is acting as a starring vehicle for Isla Fisher.

Wayne McClammy, the director behind the Sarah Silverman and Jimmy Kimmel viral videos “I’m F—ing Matt Damon” and “I’m F—ing Ben Affleck,” was previously on board but left due to creative differences, according to sources.

Written by Ellen Rapoport, Desperados is described as a female-oriented Hangover.

The story is about a woman who sends an indignant email to her new beau, who has gone silent after they have sex, only to discover he’s comatose in a Mexican hospital. Panicking, she races south of the border with her friends in tow to intercept the email before he recovers.

Mark Gordon, Jason Blum and Jennifer Todd are producing. Universal executive vp production Tracy Falco and director of development Maradith Frenkel will oversee the project. Shara Senderoff and Allyson Seeger are supervising for the Mark Gordon Co.

An actress-turned-director Thomas, repped by CAA and Ziffren Brittenham, last directed Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Squeakquel. Other credits include I Spy, Dr. Doolittle, Private Parts and The Brady Bunch Movie.
