Vulture Broke the Bored to Death Movie News to Isla Fisher, and Yes, She Wants In
When Vulture first heard that there might be a Bored to Death movie, we got super excited and started spreading the good word — in some cases, breaking the news to folks who might actually be in the movie, should creator Jonathan Ames decide to include their characters. Yesterday afternoon, we had the distinct pleasure of informing Isla Fisher that a movie was in the works and got to witness her delight. “Oh my God!” she squealed, when we grabbed a quiet moment with her at a Great Gatsby event hosted by Tiffany & Co. and MAC Cosmetics (Fisher plays Myrtle Wilson). “My agents don’t tell me anything! I didn’t know!” And then she realized, “I’m in the season finale … that means I get to be in it! Did [Ames] say I’ll get to be in it? Do you know?”
Assuming Ames sticks to his original plan of putting her character, Rose, in a sanitarium to recover from accidental incest with Schwartzman’s character, we thought so, yes. “Oh, wow. Wow. I would love to play that. Fabulous. That’s something you can really sink your teeth into,” she said. “I loved working on that show. I remember, I came home and I said to my manager or agent, ‘That would be the perfect job for me, to have a regular gig, working with the nicest people. I love Jonathan Ames. I loved working with Jason Schwartzman. I loved it. Loved it.” Ames should be pleased at her enthusiasm, because one of his concerns was whether or not Fisher would be available to resume her role. “I’ll make myself available!” she giggled. “That is the best news. You’ve actually really made my day.” Glad to be of service. Ames, your move.
The May 3rd issue of Entertainment Weekly magazine has a sneak peek at the upcoming return of Arrested Development, the TV series that Isla will be making a guest appearance in. Alongside EW’s feature have come lots of stills from the new series, including the first of Isla! The photos show her character alongside Jason Bateman’s character Michael Bluth, and hint that she is going to be a love interest for him. Check out the photos in our Gallery.
Arrested Development Gets Official Netflix Premiere Date and an Extra Episode
That noise you hear is the sound of Arrested Development fans clearing their schedules in late May.
Netflix announced early Thursday that the show’s upcoming fourth season will be available simultaneously on Sunday, May 26.
What’s more, the episode order has grown yet again, from 14 to 15 episodes.
As previously reported, each episode will focus on a single AD character (although other Bluths will weave in and out).
In addition to the core cast returning, guest stars on tap for the revival include Seth Rogen, Kristen Wiig, Liza Minnelli (aka Lucille 2), Conan O’Brien, John Slattery (Mad Men), Chris Diamantopoulos (24), Isla Fisher (Wedding Crashers) and Terry Crews (Everybody Hates Chris).
Netflix that the new “anthology” season of Arrested Development will arrive — all 15 episodes at once — on May 26. The show, which ran on Fox from 2003 to 2006 and won an Emmy for Outstanding Comedy Series, will bring back its entire cast, including Jason Bateman, Will Arnett, Jeffrey Tambor, Michael Cera, David Cross, and many, many more.
he “Arrested Development” gang has been hard at work recruiting fan favorites to appear on the revived series when it is released on Netflix in 2013, but they’ve also reached out for some new faces too. Zap2it has confirmed that both Isla Fisher and Terry Crews will appear in Season 4.
Both Fisher and Crews have already started shooting their guest roles in the upcoming fourth season, Zap2it can exclusively reveal. There’s no word on who they’re playing, but both will have run-ins with the Bluths when the dysfunctional family heads to Netflix in the spring.
The only other confirmed newbies are the “Workaholics” dudes and John Slattery. They join old faves like Liza Minnelli (Lucille 2), Henry Winkler (Barry Zuckerkorn), Judy Greer (Kitty Sanchez) and Scott Baio (Bob Loblaw), who are definitely coming back.
“Arrested Development” will air on Netflix in the spring of 2013.
I now finally have coverage from Isla’s guest appearance on Bored To Death for you. She appeared on two episodes last year during it’s third season run, playing a character named Rose Hiney. Rose was a detective/Jonathan’s girlfriend/… Jonathan’s half-sister. She was her usual funny self and had some great one-liners. Plus it was an interesting change of pace seeing her in a television series. She also had great chemistry with lead star Jason Schwartzman who plays Jonathan. Unfortunately the series was cancelled in December, so any plans for Isla to return are now obviously not going to happen … which is a shame, as I really wanted to see what they did with her storyline!
As for the show-related updates, I’ve added stills and HD screencaptures from both of the episodes Isla appeared in. I’ve also written our filmography information page for the project, containing all the information I can find on Isla’s part, including exclusively written episode synopses, and a bunch of quotes I transcribed whilst watching. I’ll add clips from her episodes when I start completing the Video section.
From some of the official Bored To Death tweets, it sounds like Isla’s episode for the show will be airing either tonight or next week! She stars in episode 23, entitled ‘Forget The Herring’, of the 3rd season of the show. A video preview of the episode has been posted online and you can watch it below.
I’ll be sure to let you know asap in the coming days if Isla’s episode did indeed air tonight, and if it does you can expect screencaps up here very soon.
Remember the photos we had a few months ago of Isla filming for HBO’s Bored To Death? Well they have just released a video preview of their new upcoming Season 3, and we get a brief look at Miss Fisher! We don’t get any details on her character/role/episode yet though, but I’ll be on the lookout and will post further news and info as I find it.
Screencaps from this preview will be added to the Gallery very soon. have now been added to the Gallery.
Go on set with the cast and crew of “Bored To Death.” The new season premieres on Monday, October 10th. For more on Bored to Death, log onto http://www.hbo.com/bored-to-death.htm.
Well this has come as a surprise! Isla was spotted filming what is being called a ‘cameo’ for the HBO TV series Bored To Death in Coney Island (New York City) on Monday! She was seen filming with star of the show, Jason Schwartzman, and was looking very smart in a cream and navy skirt suit. I think Isla will be playing a detective on the show. The outline of Bored To Death is as follows:
… stars Jason Schwartzman as a fictional Jonathan Ames – a writer based in Brooklyn, New York City, who moonlights as an unlicensed private detective.
You can find the official Bored To Death website here, although I haven’t seen any mention of Isla on there.
Unfortunately that’s all I can find about Isla’s appearance on the show so far! I’ll keep you posted when we get more details on this appearance. We have 28 HQ photos of her on the set in our Gallery for you to browse through…
