Isla Fisher’s Best Of 2012

Because Isla has had a busy year this year, I thought it would be fun to do a Best of 2012 post – as we finally have some things to pick ‘bests’ of!

It’s been a Fisher fantastic year for fans, with Isla having two films released this year – Bachelorette and Rise Of The Guardians – and promoting them both. She started off her 2012 in Sundance, where raunchy comedy Bachelorette was premiered with co-stars Kirsten Dunst and Lizzy Caplan. The film was one of the most talked about of the festival, and Isla took part in photoshoots and interviews for it. We were treated to another sighting of Isla a few months later, when she turned up to support her husband’s movie The Dictator at its London premiere. She looked fresh in a pale blue Dolce & Gabbana mini dress, showing off her great figure. A few weeks later Isla took a trip to the Cannes Film Festival where her new animated comedy Rise Of The Guardians was screened. Isla and co-stars Chris Pine and Alec Baldwin took part in a Q&A for the film, and Isla also attended the Calvin Klein Women In Film event with good friend Naomi Watts.

“Bachelorette” HD Film Screencaptures

“Magic isn’t real, right?”

Those curious and worried words come from the mouth of Katie in Bachelorette, and I have now added over 800 HD screencaptures of Isla in that very film! The film has received mixed reviews, but I really liked it – it was no masterpiece, but I liked how it showed the gritty side of female friendship yet that their friendship remained strong (< my interpretation, at least), and it hinted at the reasons for why they behave like that. I really enjoyed the three leads'/bachelorettes performances, and while I didn't like or really empathise with them, I did want to see more of them. Isla was laugh-out-very-loud hilarious in this movie and showed again what a knack she has for comedy and timing - some of the things Katie came out with were so absurd you can't help but laugh. You can tell Isla had great fun with this role. Definitely a must-see for Fisher fanatics :)

Video from “Bachelorette” promotion on The View in September

November 17th 2012 • by Jess • No Comments"Bachelorette", Videos

Jumping back a few months, after encoding our video from Live With Kelly & Michael yesterday I remembered I had a video from Isla’s appearance on The View in September waiting to be uploaded. This appearance wasn’t available anywhere online that I could find, so the lovely and wonderful Haylie helped me out and made us an exclusive video! Isla appeared on the show to promote Bachelorette with her co-stars Kirsten Dunst and Lizzy Caplan. It was a fun interview, and I personally can’t get enough of the Isla & Kirsten interviews, they seemed to have become good friends! So now you can download, watch and enjoy …. :)

Isla on the cover of Australian In Style

Woooahh, more fantastic Fisher news – Isla is on the cover of the new December issue of Australian In Style magazine! Albeit slightly in disguise – I sense a bit of photoshopping going on? Still, Isla wears a gorgeous dress by J’Aton Couture on the cover, and it is so great to see her on the cover of another big magazine, so we give major props to In Style for that!

The magazine is on news-stands now, so make sure you pick up a copy. Highlights from the interview can be read below, and you can see the cover in our Gallery. I’ll be on the lookout for scans, and if anyone can help me out with providing them that would be fabulous :)

InStyle cover girl: Isla Fisher

Unassuming and playful, Isla Fisher has never lost her delightful Aussie charm, despite being based overseas for the better part of a decade. Together with her husband, comedian Sacha Baron Cohen, and their two daughters, Olive, 5, and Elula, 2, Fisher splits her time between LA and London. This month she talks to InStyle about her new role in the wickedly funny comedy Bachelorette, and being one half of one of Hollywood’s most intriguing power couples.

In movies like Wedding Crashers, Confessions of a Shopaholic and now Bachelorette, you consistently play extreme women. What draws you to these manic roles?
“I played a bipolar nymphomaniac in Wedding Crashers and now I’m playing a coke whore. I’m just trying to make my dad proud [laughs]. Truthfully, I’ve always enjoyed playing characters that are unusual people. There’s a bunch of actors who can play normal people better than I can. I enjoy it more when I can play someone who exists in a heightened reality, someone a little more wild.”

Bachelorette was released in Australia last Thursday, and it did very well at the box office over the weekend, entering the Top 10 at #2! Congrats to the cast and crew :)

Argo continues to thrill Aussie audiences

BEN Affleck’s thriller Argo has held onto its No.1 spot in Australian cinemas for a second week.

Taking more than $1.813 million at the box office, the true story about efforts to smuggle Americans out of Iran during the hostage drama of 1979, was clearly the favourite movie at the weekend, according to figures released by the Motion Picture Distributors Association of Australia.

Coming in second was the new US comedy Bachelorette, which stars Aussies Rebel Wilson and Isla Fisher along with US stars Kirsten Dunst and Lizzy Caplan. Bachelorette, which is about a night before the wedding that goes wrong, took $841,263 on its debut weekend.

Another newcomer End of Watch, starring Jake Gyllenhaal and Michael Pena, debuted at No.3, earning $738,324 at the box office.

Taken 2 was pushed down to fourth place, but in four weeks the film has taken more than $18 million at Australian cinemas, while Paranormal Activity 4 sits at fifth place.
Digital Pass $1 for first 28 Days

French comedy/drama The Intouchables continues its popularity at Aussie cinemas. A true story based on a friendship between a wealthy quadriplegic and his charismatic ex-con carer, the film sits at sixth place after five weeks in cinemas.

The screen version of Housos vs Authority debuted at seventh place, while sci-fi thriller Dredd finished eighth.

Tim Burton’s black-and-white animation Frankenweenie sits at ninth, while Oliver Stone’s drug-dealing drama Savages fell four places to 10th.

The Australian Sunday Telegraph published a new interview with Isla today, to promote Bachelorette. Read it in our press section!

Hollywood’s just crazy about Isla Fisher

Of her own marriage, Fisher says she’s been incredibly lucky to have found her soulmate.

“Choosing to be together every day is incredibly romantic,” she says. “I love marriage. I think it’s a wonderful institution and it’s the most important decision you make.

“Life is filled with highs and lows, and you have a best friend to share it with you. It’s amazing.

“It’s like winning the lottery, having a good partner.”

Huffington Post: Director Leslye Headland Tells Bachelorette’s Most Shocking Moment

September 30th 2012 • by Jess • No Comments"Bachelorette", Gallery Updates

The Huffington Post have another interesting article about the reaction to Bachelorette. THey accompany it with a new photoshoot of Isla, Kirsten, Lizzy and writer/director Leslye Headland! The photoshoot was taken on September 5th in New York City … you’ll recognise Isla’s dress as the one she wore on Good Morning America that same day.

Director Leslye Headland Tells Bachelorette’s Most Shocking Moment: ‘I Did Not Direct That!’

Leslye Headland’s debut film, Bachelorette, starring Kirsten Dunst, Isla Fisher and Lizzy Caplan has audiences so virulently divided that it makes Moses look like he merely parted a kiddie pool.

Bachelorette doesn’t wait to announce to the audience that it had better buckle up. In an opening scene, about-to-be bridesmaid Gena is on a plane, seated next to a man whose name in the credits is listed as “Barely Attractive Guy.” What Gena delivers next is a philosophical and extremely graphic dissertation on blow jobs, using a blow-job-o-meter of 1-10, and lists her reasons for never exerting more effort than a 6 with the intensity of a woman arguing for the development of a democratic governmental state. And as one watches, wide-eyed, giggling nervously with shock and awe, one can’t help but wonder, “Who wrote this?”

More new “Bachelorette” press interviews

September 9th 2012 • by Jess • No Comments"Bachelorette", Website

Another batch of Bachelorette interviews have been added to our Press page today! Go have a read….

“I think people want to see movies the way they want to see them. I think that seeing them at home in your jammies is an appealing option and I can totally understand that. And why not? This movie, why I think there’s specific interest, is because I think that this is a rare comedy that has a lot of pathos and dramatic moments, and deals with issues that normally are in regular indie movies instead of indie comedy movies, and I like to think that it’s because Leslye Headland’s a wonderful female writer and there are three great female roles in a female centered comedy. There’s not enough of them getting made.”
